Originally, I wanted to use cloth diapers, you know, the whole ‘green’ option, easier to potty train, less diaper rash, etc. There’s not a diaper laundering service in my area, and I just know I won’t have the energy to be constantly washing diapers. Plus, a lot of daycares refuse to use them just because they’re more difficult than the disposables. I still want a green option, but with more convenience. So… has anyone used these before who can give me some feedback? Or maybe a better option?
Ok…good for you for wanting to be greener! alot of people think cloth is harder and not as convenient and I have no idea why, I am using one size BumGenius cloth diapers and they are no different from disposables. when my daughter goes to the potty in them, I pull the insert out of the pocket put it in the trash can (same as a disposable) and I hang the cloth diapers on these awesome hangers I bought (link below) because I feel it will be easier to get the smell out if it airs out. at the end of the night when I put her to bed I pull them all off the hangers and dump the trash can of inserts with them in the wash for a cold wash go wash bottles, when its done u add more detergent and do a hot wash (does not take much effort, really it doesn’t just dump in detergent and push a button) then I do two rinse cycles when its done, hang them up on the hangers and throw the inserts in the dryer and go to bed. while all this is going on I am doing bottles, eating, cleaning up, taking a shower, watching the news or movie with my husband, answering emails, and getting ready for bed. they wash themselves I don’t’ have to do much washing is not anything major its not like u have to go down to the river and wash them on a rock or anything LOL. then in the morning while my daughter is playing in her gym, swing or jumper I sit next to her and talk to her while I put the inserts in the diapers. its not very hard at all. I LOVE doing it. I look forward to each morning just so I can use them I just love them that much. check out link to the diapers and the hangers, hope u have an Ikea near you, if not maybe u have a friend that does.

as for the daycare I’d order a few BumGenius and take them up there and say “look, they look and work just like a disposable” and make them watch u do a diaper change.. get a bag like a those reusable grocery bags (cause it can be washed if it starts to smell) and put your kids name on it and show them that they can seal up the diaper just like a disposable and instead of tossing it in the trash just toss it in the bag. its the same steps, they are not doing anything different. You just will probably have to show them before they will believe you.
