History versus the environment?

It is something that I thought for a while. I am interested in both historic preservation / restoration of architectural and environmental design. How can climate control and restoration of a historic building, while maintaining historical integrity and aesthetics of the building? How do you make your neighbors happy with solar panels or wind turbines in their Victorian house 200 years? Is it possible to maintain the original look of an old building or an entire neighborhood to go "off the grid" as much as possible? (Ok is really three questions, but all are related.) Here is the article that made me think: http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/10/09/pip.wind.energy / index.html

Help in the lab! the efficiency of solar cells?

for this lab, I had to make a solarimeter, which is a power meter composed of a simple solar solar cell connected to an electricity meter measures. the cell is exposed to sunlight. I used voltmeter / ammeter, a solar cell, a one 9V battery. I registered as data was current and voltage. so I'm invited to "prepare a table and plot of the raw% maximum color on with incident light of the data. How I can do if I have the voltage, current and power (voltage X current)? "Besides, if the maximum cell efficiency in a laboratory science is 30% while a commercial unit (the one used in my lab) might be 4 to 15% efficient cells is comparable to the use of cell i solar in a laboratory? Why is not as effective?, If the efficiency of a solar cell is 5%, what do you think will happen with the rest of energy? Be I've asked a lot, but does not help in this laboratory is greatly appreciated.

The only way to represent color image data is data that habit. (Voltage and the power is sufficient) will experience a considerable error, since there is no way to gauge the intensity of light. The purpose of the exercise is to demonstrate that cells Solar can capture a certain length wavelength of light. I think the greatest power will be the green wavelength (just a hunch). Therefore, to clarify his laboratory just a light so some translucent colored objects and readings. A color will be much higher than others. Save your data and a chart in Excel. Voltage increase with decreasing wavelength, while the current decreases as the wavelength decreases. This gives you maximum power output somewhere environmental (510 Nm probably green). Commercial signs are about 12-15% efficiency. The rest is heat. I doubt that your board is 30% effective if you have an important gift NASA's:) But like all engineering laboratories, if you are 100% made of very good better:) suerte

The big oil companies are fighting the "green energy sector?

When I hear profitability levels These companies do believe that it should be obvious that the revenue is invested in projects that generate solar and wind power and other renewable energy energys. Then do not need Oil from anywhere. No use of any way to use oil more to do with the Middle East.

————– If you have asked oil companies to provide revenue for the energy the other hand, only have the time and money is wasted on boondoggle more feasible as hydrogen. * Instead, Check out what has developed without any government or corporate subsidies: * * The Phoenix electric cars can http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html travel up to 250 miles between charges, carries 5 people plus the freight to 95 mph, recharge batteries in just ten minutes, and the batteries last longer than 200 000 miles. The cost of electricity for driving is only a penny per mile. * I heard no one in government talks about this car. Because that is exactly the kind of success that not occur. In fact, almost the same is not mentioned in the Phoenix media. * But the Phoenix is a real car. The orders were received, and begin to build cars this month. Cost is expected to be approximately $ 45,000. This cost is reduced to something more reasonable if enough cars can be built. ——————

Steam is a gas? The political debate?

I do my OTEC the debate, and produces steam. The theme this year is energy and energy replacement Alternatives include: compressed natural gas, solar, hydro and wind. So do not count as natural gas steam?

Natural gas is N a combustible gas containing carbon. Steam steam fair. Steam does not contain energy like natural gas there is no heat, but it is chemistry and can be released by combustion.
